2014 Trimbach Riesling

$21.99

When you open a wine book, any wine book, Trimbach will be there.  About Alsace, Trimbach is your benchmark.  If it’s a book about Riesling, they will be the one to judge all others against.  This is a family, a “house,” that has been making wine since 1626 and they are very serious wines indeed.  And dry.

That’s right.  Trimbach is The Best, and it’s just that simple.

The 2014 Riesling: this wine bursts with gravitas, charm, dignity and sophistication – on the nose aromas of granny smith apples, honeycomb, peach and honeydew melon.  There is a tension – a refreshing sense of beguilement, like your Porsche is revving just a little bit hot tonight, a pull forward, that makes you tense up in excitement.  The palate is long, mineral and utterly refreshing.

Again, the wine is DRY.  It’s perfect as a cocktail yet is outstanding with almost any meal (it is the ultimate tailgating beverage – just try it).

This is an amazing wine, from an immensely respected producer.  I am proud to offer it.  Trimbach didn’t need to “deal down” their wines to sell them: We made this deal work because the wines are just that awesome.

And I am not the only one to like this wine:

Critical Acclaim:

“93 points.

“This is very minerally and bright with amazing tangy acidity and crispness. Wonderful energy and beauty. Full body, tangy finish.” – James Suckling

“92 points.

“The nose shows restrained citrus and a slightly lifted, very slightly aromatic touch of conifer. The palate is taut and slender, presenting sober, clean citrus flavors. This stands upright and has a wonderful backbone of freshness. I feel it will have more to give in the future. It’s refreshing now and promising in the future. The finish is so subtly fruited that this will be worth the wait. Drink now through 2030.” – Wine Enthusiast
