Cabernet Frankenfest: A Halloween Night Celebration of Cabernet Franc

Cabernet Franc may be the world’s greatest patriarch of great red wines.

It’s the father of Cabernet Sauvignon, as well as the father of Merlot. It’s the greatest red wine grape of the Loire Valley. And its hearty and robust character allows its vines to render great wines in cool and warm climates all around the world—from Bordeaux to California and from Italy to Chile.

All of which makes us ask ourselves, Why don’t we drink even more Cabernet Franc?

On Halloween night, Waterford Wine & Spirits invites you to Cabernet Frankenfest. It’s a party to celebrate, discover and explore all the beauty and complexity of Loire Valley Cabernet Francs, as well as great Cabernet Francs from all around the world.

Cabernet Frankenfest will feature Cabernet Francs from the grape’s most famous Loire Valley appellations—Chinon, Bourgueil, Saint-Nicholas de Bourgeuil, Saumur and Saumur-Champigny. With those Loire Valley appellations as our standard bearers, Frankenfest will sample wines from other wine regions which also cultivate the grape: Tuscany and Friuli-Venezia-Giulia in Italy, the Sierra Foothills of California and the Colchagua Valley in Chile. And Frankenfest will also feature a great wines from Bordeaux that includes Cabernet Franc in its cepage.
