Guillemard-Clerc Puligny Montrachet Les Enseigneres 2017

$59.99

There are two fantastically simple reasons to buy this wine.

First, this plot of Puligny-Montrachet Les Enseigneres is 5 meters from Batard-Montrachet.

Second, look at the price. When is the last time you saw a Puligny-Montrachet, let alone one with such heritage behind it, for this price?

Ok, that was the short summation. Here is a little bit longer explanation on these two wines.

The nose on Les Enseigneres simply leaps from the glass – notes of rich fruit, bacon, honey, cloves, and baking spices brought a smile to my face. There is nothing better to me than smelling a white Burgundy in full bloom – the savory power, the depth of character, the richness of the experience. That is all right here. This is a rich Puligny but it is still balanced, long and complete. I would be more than happy to blow through it right now and at this price, I most likely will. Yet I am positive that it will age and become a treasure in your cellar.

And me being me, I can’t leave well enough alone. Yes, Corinne makes a Bienvenues Batard-Montrachet. And yes, we got a little bit of it. It’s also at a great price for Batard-Montrachet and matches every other Batard I’ve had for flavor, aroma, depth and character. While my emphasis has been on the Enseigneres simply because of its price, if you have the means, you won’t regret the Grand Cru.
