Why? It all comes down to two darn good reasons.

First, this Chianti has to be the ultimate food wine it has the freshness, the core of fruit, and the muscular finish to work with almost any food.

Imagine dinner in Tuscany and you’ll understand. Pizza with prosciutto and melted Tallegio – Chanti is perfect. Caprese salad with buffalo mozzarella – Chainti hits the acid of the tomatoes and cuts right through the milky fatness of the cheese. Roasted corn with shaved Parmesan – bam!—Chianti. And even better yet, bistecca alla Fiorentina slathered in ultra-fresh olive oil – there’s nothing better to wash it down than Chianti. And since you aren’t going to visit Chianti soon, this wine brings Chianti to you.

Second, Chianti is about you. You’re never gonna order a pizza and wonder whether you should open the Chianti. You won’t have friends over and worry, “But will they appreciate the Chianti?” You’re not going to wake up in the morning disappointed that the third bottle disposed of last night was the Chianti. Chianti is rough and ready, always willing to work for your enjoyment, and immediately attentive to your gustatory needs.

And as the quote notes above, perhaps no other Chianti is as lovely as Lucignano’s Chianti Colli Fiorentini. Lucignano’s estate dates back to 1546. He follows a very traditional path in both the vineyards and the winery – he makes only one wine, the Chianti Colli Fiorentini, and it is a stunner:

The 2017 opens with perfumed aromas of red cherry, field-ripened strawberries and hints of savory herbs on the incredibly inviting nose. The palate is fresh and seamless, with juicy raspberry fruits and hints of cedar and rosemary, and it finishes with a crisp sense of minerality.
